The historic Goshen Theater is the centerpiece of a burgeoning arts and entertainment culture in downtown Goshen. In 1992, when I joined the Goshen City Council, numerous storefronts on Main Street were vacant, leading both the city council and Redevelopment Commission to search for ways to rejuvenate the central business district. By making some business-friendly changes, such as free parking and a façade program, city government created a culture that encouraged local entrepreneurs to purchase buildings and repurpose them.

Now, a resurgent Main Street is filled with thriving shops, restaurants and businesses. However, the theater remains to be fully utilized. It is our resolve to find ways it can become a primary contributor to the economic engine that is our central business district.

Everett Thomas, Goshen City Councilman (Retired), Goshen Theater Campaign Chair
