The Next Act

The Next Act: Setting the Stage for Tomorrow

Goshen Theater, Inc. (GTI) is a public-private partnership of community partners acting to restore and revitalize the Goshen Theater as the centerpiece of Goshen’s arts and music culture.
The group has successfully completed multiple studies and solicited millions of dollars in grant funding for renovations to the theater.
GTI is now moving forward with a private funding campaign to secure the next phase of financial support for the project.

NOW IS THE TIME!

In Goshen, several decades of grassroots initiatives, coupled with public-private partnerships, have restored significant activity to Goshen’s central historic district.

We must keep working to stabilize new businesses and promote a diverse and dynamic local economy
While investment is on the rise, we must keep working to stabilize new businesses and promote a diverse and dynamic local economy.

Local and independently owned businesses face competing forces, and manufacturing continues to define both the economic and cultural landscape of Elkhart County, posing challenges to attracting and retaining much-needed talent in the community.

We must keep working to improve the quality of life of everyone living in Goshen
We must keep working to improve the quality of life of everyone living in Goshen.

Good jobs, quality schools, safe neighborhoods, strong families, attractive streets, bike and walking paths, community traditions and arts and entertainment opportunities are key indicators of a community’s quality of life.

We must leverage our community’s assets
Ultimately, we must leverage our community’s assets in innovative ways that make Goshen a great place to live and raise families. We must leave a community legacy to inspire future generations.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Revitalize a downtown jewel and inspire our next generation.

A restored Goshen Theater will serve as a multiplier of positive effects, bringing activity to the city center, offering jobs, supporting downtown businesses, enhancing the city’s creative vitality, creating a community gathering place and providing our children with a stage to find their voices and develop life-long confidence.
Losing the theater would leave a quarter-block hole in our city’s landscape and limit its potential to shine at its very brightest. Currently, the theater is one of the largest unresolved projects in the city’s core. Its vast size wields an overwhelming influence on the downtown district.
However, a revitalized theater holds the potential to transform our community. Restoring the Goshen Theater and maximizing its potential would:

  • Inspire children to find their passions and learn lifelong skills
  • Enhance Goshen’s already vibrant artistic and cultural programming
  • Provide a gathering space for the community to come together and create memories
  • Stabilize neighborhoods and secure local investment
  • Encourage revitalization and collaboration
  • Attract visitors and arts/corporate talent to the region
  • Amplify the sense of pride in our community
PHASE 1 BUDGET

Phase 1 seeks to raise essential funds for priority repairs to the Theater.

Construction $4.2M
Endowment $1M
TOTAL $5.2M
PHASE 1 FUNDING
Public Grants $1.7M
Private Grant $1M
Private Donors $2.5M

Key priority improvements will create a more flexible use of the current footprint and contribute to the overall sustainability of the theater.
